What a great programme, Jeremy Paxman’s new series ‘Empire’ on a rarely talked about part of history.

Paxman not normally my choice of evening viewing, but with an unjudgmental and very informative approach, following the history of The British Empire over a series of 5 programmes.

What made it for me was how, for once in a long time, I watched a brilliantly shot and edited documentry, lovely smooth orchestrated shots, by who I found out to be a fellow Lighting Cameraman from my old Cook Report days, Mike Garner.

I am looking forward to the next 4 ( Already Sky Plus’ed )

May the BBC and other Channel’s take note that an experienced Camera Crew is worth every penny, you can’t expect to have the quality of Mike Garner from a crew who last week were taking their GCSE’s.
